Riverside Community Hospital Nurse Kerry Cavazos tested positive for COVID two weeks after receiving the first of two doses of the Pfizer vaccine. She feels that getting vaccinated was the right call, but she urges others who get vaccinated to continue to follow guidelines. UCLA Epidemiologist Anne Rimoin, also interviewed for the story, said it’s important to take both doses.

Kerry also has a message for the public: “People need to have compassion for humanity. We need to make sure that people realize that by jeopardizing yourself, you jeopardize me and my family because now you have COVID because you don’t think you need to wear a mask. The emotional drain on the nurses is real. We are emotionally drained like PTSD, the fear of this,” [Cavazos] said.
